Bedding & Accessories, thoughtfully chosen for the way Canadians sleep.

Sheets that last a decade. Duvets warm enough for an Ontario January. Pillows fitted to the way you actually sleep, not the way the marketing copy says you do. The Grose family has been picking bedding for Brantford homes since 1987, and this is the curated edit, with the science and the trade-offs explained in plain English.

Questions, Answered

The bedding questions we actually get asked.

If your question isn't here, call our Brantford showroom at 519-770-0001 or stop in at 441 1/2 West Street. A real person answers the phone.

What bedding do I actually need for a new mattress?
At minimum: a fitted sheet, two pillowcases, two pillows, and a duvet or comforter. A waterproof mattress protector is recommended within the first week to keep the warranty valid and protect the new surface from stains. Mattress Miracle includes a basic mattress protector free with mattress purchases over $899.
What's the difference between a duvet, a duvet cover, and a comforter?
A duvet is the insert filled with down, feathers, or synthetic fibres. A duvet cover is a removable washable shell that slides over the duvet. A comforter is a one-piece quilted bed covering used as-is, no separate cover. Duvet plus cover is easier to clean; comforter is simpler to make up daily.
Which sheet material is best for Canadian winters?
Flannel cotton is warmest and most popular for Ontario winters. Brushed cotton sateen and percale weaves trap less heat but feel softer. If you run hot, bamboo viscose stays cooler year-round. We stock flannel, percale, sateen, and bamboo at the Brantford showroom. Come feel the difference before buying.
How often should I replace pillows, protectors, and sheets?
Pillows: every 18 to 36 months depending on fill (down lasts longer than polyfoam). Mattress protectors: every 2 to 3 years, sooner if liquid has soaked through. Sheets: replace when the weave thins or pilling becomes uncomfortable, usually 3 to 5 years of nightly use.
Do you offer free delivery on bedding?
Yes, free local delivery on bedding orders over $99 within Brantford, Paris, St. George, Ayr, and Cambridge. Same-day or next-day delivery on most in-stock items. Outside our local zone, we ship Canada-wide through Canada Post and Purolator.
Are bamboo sheets actually cooler than cotton?
Yes, modestly. Bamboo viscose has slightly better moisture wicking and feels cooler to the touch on first contact than standard cotton. A 2020 systematic review in Sleep Medicine Reviews (Saunders et al., DOI 10.1016/j.smrv.2020.101314) found that fabric smoothness and thermal conductivity meaningfully affect sleep quality, so the cooling difference is real but not dramatic. Pair bamboo sheets with a breathable mattress topper for the biggest temperature improvement.
