A great bed frame is silent. You shouldn't hear it, see it sag, or think about it.

Questions, Answered

The bed frame questions we actually get asked.

If your question isn't here, call our Brantford showroom at 519-770-0001 or stop in at 441 1/2 West Street. A real person answers the phone.

Do I need a box spring or just a platform bed?
Platform beds with slats every 2-3 inches don't need a box spring. They directly support most modern mattresses, including foam, latex, and hybrid. Traditional metal frames with rails 6+ inches apart need a box spring or bunkie board. Check your mattress warranty — some require a specific foundation type.
What size bed frame for a queen mattress?
Queen bed frames are 63 x 83 inches externally (to fit a 60 x 80 inch queen mattress). King frames are 80 x 84 inches (for 76 x 80 in king). Always measure your room first — leave 24-30 inches around the bed for walkway and dressers.
Wood vs metal vs upholstered: which lasts longest?
Solid wood lasts 20-30+ years. Metal lasts 15-25 years but can squeak with age. Upholstered fabric lasts 8-15 years before the fabric wears (the frame underneath lasts longer). For longevity, solid wood — and Lakewood Canadian-made frames are our pick.
Are storage beds worth the extra cost?
Yes, in smaller rooms or condos where storage matters. Lift-up gas-piston storage holds suitcases, off-season bedding, and seasonal clothes. Side-drawer storage is easier to access daily. Both can outlast the bed itself if quality hardware is used.
Do bunk beds meet Canadian safety standards?
All bunk beds we carry meet Health Canada's bunk bed safety standards: guardrails on both sides of the top bunk, mattress thickness limits, ladder safety, and spacing between rails. Always assemble per the included instructions and check bolts annually.
